Traveling on a Budget

dp:

Oh, to be an explorer! Travel to destinations unknown

and unravel the mysteries of the world. What

I wouldn’t give to feel the thrill of adventure

and the excitement of discovery. To set my eyes

upon something lost, something never seen

before by human eyes. Something new, something

pure, something cursed.

But alas, there is nothing new under the sun,

our Sun at least. There is nothing to be found,

nothing to be uncovered, not anymore. So I

travel to new worlds, imaginary ones.

Take ships, and sail across new seas.

Find land and water pristine, creatures both

exotic and familiar, dangerous and inviting.

I breathe new air sprinkled with the aroma of

quest and the touch of peril.

I travel to worlds of light, where kings and queens

rule over the land, demanding allegiance and

providing shelter. I travel to worlds of darkness,

where beasts govern and control my fate,

testing my resolve. I travel to worlds beyond, where

the Sun is lost and the planets align. Worlds of

wonder and intrigue, worlds of creation and destruction,

worlds that will never be.

I lose myself in thought and visions of the unknown,

the unfound, the undiscovered. I yearn for anything

but here, for anything but the familiar. I want

to challenge myself and my strengths, my weaknesses,

my decisions. I want a world to float away, to lose myself

and all my worries, to be someone else, someone

I thought I was, someone  I’ve always wanted to be.

I take a knee and click Play…
